The Veterans & Military Families Council (VMFC) is the Democratic National Committee’s official group representing service members, veterans, caregivers, and military families inside the party. It works to make sure their concerns — from health care and benefits to jobs, transition support, and national security — are reflected in Democratic policy, messaging, organizing, and campaigns.
The Co-Chairs lead the council’s strategy and operations: organizing members across the country, advising party leadership, shaping platform priorities, and building outreach to the military and veteran community. They act as the bridge between those who served and the party’s decision-making table — turning real-world experience into policy and political action.
Under the bylaws of the Democratic National Committee, the Executive Board is the Party’s core governing and fiduciary body between full DNC meetings. It is responsible for overseeing the operations, finances, and legal compliance of the DNC; implementing the policies and directives adopted by the full Committee; and exercising general supervision over the Party’s officers, committees, and staff. In practice, the Executive Board acts as the DNC’s day-to-day governing authority, ensuring continuity, accountability, and strategic direction for the national Democratic Party when the full membership is not in session.
